I love coffee. There is something about the taste, aroma, and functionality of a cup of coffee that just makes my day a little bit better. While most people drink coffee for the caffeine effect, me included, there are some of us who simply love a good cup of coffee, all day, every day. There is also a good chance that, like me, you love going to your local coffeehouse and treating yourself to a larger life drink that tastes good but is not very nice to your pocketbook. If I could, I would hit the coffeehouse every day and get a fun drink. I do not have the time or money for those kinds of adventures.

With a little bit of prep work, you can have the luxury of coffeehouse drinks right at home, without any special equipment. That means you can have a great tasting drink without having your own espresso machine. A good coffee drink is all about the base. One of my top go to for a good cup of coffee is Hills Bros. Have you heard of it? I bet you have!

Hills Bros Compostable Coffee Pods

But did you know that even though they have been creating warming and tasty coffee blends for over 137 years, they are always looking for ways to make your day better. Hills Bros. coffee is smooth, rich, and brings a smile to my face. They are even taking the lead in the K-cup world we now live in by creating 100% compostable pods. What a cool thing to do for the environment and coffee lovers alike!

I have never had a complaint about serving Hills Bros. in my house and find it to be a great substitute for espresso in my homemade coffee house drinks, the dark roast is the best (and my favorite ever) but the medium roasts work well for people who do not like a strong coffee flavor.

Check out the recipes below and let me know what you think!

White Chocolate Mocha

White Chocolate Sauce:

1 cup Half and Half (or heavy whipping cream for a richer taste)

¾ cup White Chocolate Pieces

Drink:

6-8oz of your favorite coffee, HOT!

2-4 tablespoons of White Chocolate Sauce

Whip Cream

This is by far one of the easiest coffeehouse drinks to make at home. First make your white chocolate sauce.

Warm half and half to a near boil and slowly add in white chocolate pieces, making sure each piece is fully incorporated. After all chocolate has been added, allow sauce to cool. Sauce will be fluid still and can be stored in airtight container in fridge for a week.

In a larger cup or a blender (I like a larger blender because you can make more than one cup at a time) combine coffee and white chocolate sauce. Taste and adjust sauce as needed.

Pour into your favorite coffee mug, top with some whip cream and enjoy!

Chile Mocha

I admit that I was hesitant when I first started seeing this drink around but one sip and I was hooked! The flavors were unique and warming and a new and different way to start my day. If you have not tried this yet, then make sure to give it a try.

Chile Powder Mix:

1 and ½ tbsp. Chile powder

½ tsp Cinnamon

½ tsp Sugar

¼ tsp Paprika

¼ tsp Salt

2 tbsp. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

Drink:

6-8 oz of your favorite coffee, HOT!

2-3 tbsp. White Chocolate Mocha Sauce

2 tsp Vanilla extract

In a larger cup or a blender (I like a larger blender because you can make more than one cup at a time) combine coffee, vanilla, 1 tablespoon Chile Powder Mix and White Chocolate Sauce, adjusting flavors to personal preference.

Pour into your favorite mug, top with Whip Cream and sprinkle Chile Powder Sauce on top for an added kick.

Try one of these coffeehouse drinks at home and let me know what you think. Hills Bros. is a well-rounded coffee to really help bring these drinks to life! I hope you like them as much as I do.
